Be fearless. Be you. Count on your strengths. Every climb will look smaller than the previous one. Surround yourself who believe in your ability and support you irrespective of your past failures. Avoid those who pull you down - even if it's momentarily.
The stunning Dhauladhar Range in the backdrop and walking over the fine meadows of Pirpanjal Range - who would have known the struggle and constant battling against fear would eventually take me to the gorgeous Bhrigu Lake - the high-altitude Himalayan lake at an elevation of 14,100 feet? I had my doubts.
You must have experienced something similar or far more grueling in your lifetime, but that doesn't make my experience anything less. Every step along the four-day trek reminded me of my inner strengths and made me remain focused on the trail. The second I started my ascent, it was no longer about how easy or difficult this trek was going to be - it was about me being there in that moment and soaking everything possible that came my way with positivity and calm.
My biggest takeaway: Believe in yourself. You're stronger than you think.
I've heard these phrases umpteen number of times before. It made very little sense every time. While I had my respect towards those who had gone that extra length and experienced their strength - I wanted to have my share as well. I knew someday I'd have to live it to believe it but just wasn't sure how soon that would be.
Three years back, I used to weigh 115 kilos and had all the wrong ingredients to be the person that I am now. I'm a lot lighter today and value physical and mental health so much more. There's so much to accomplish and I will be thrown at multiple curveballs going ahead - but it's important to take a pause and look back on how far I've come and what all I am yet to experience. Cause this is life!
I wasn't crying up there in pain - I was crying cause I was overwhelmed. After all, I succeeded. Keep climbing, keep traveling.
I will be sharing day-to-day trek experiences in my upcoming posts. Stay tuned!
